#ItBegins: Temple Now Officially a Member of the American Athletic Conference

As of today, July 1, Temple is officially a member of the American Athletic Conference. Owl fans are encouraged to use the hashtag #ItBegins across all social media sites to celebrate the transition as Temple looks forward to new traditions and new rivalries. In the coming weeks and months, fans who use #ItBegins and other hashtags to be announced, will be randomly selected for Temple Athletics giveaways.

The first Temple team to play an American Athletic Conference contest will be the Owls’ football team when they take on Houston at home on Saturday, Sept. 7. Game time is set for noon. As the American Athletic Conference Game of the Week, it will air on ESPN Regional. For season ticket information and individual game tickets, visit OwlsTix.com or call 215-204-8499.

Not entirely unlike the nation that provides its namesake, the American Athletic Conference was born from an ideal in which members with ambitious goals are provided with the means to succeed in their quests for excellence.

With roots that extend to three conferences, the American Athletic Conference membership in 2013 – its debut season – consists of 10 institutions: the University of Central Florida, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Connecticut, the University of Houston, the University of Louisville, the University of Memphis, Rutgers University, Southern Methodist University, the University of South Florida and Temple University.

Visit the new conference website at theamerican.org for more information.

  2. Hi, Dominic. How many games do you think Rutgers can win. As a PSU alum, I like the opportunity of another “local” game!
