Wroten Hurt During Sixers Loss to Atlanta

An upper respiratory infection forced Hollis Thompson to miss all 11 of the Sixers’ games between December 21 and January 10, but on Tuesday the team welcomed the second-year swingman back into the lineup.

In 17 minutes of action against the Hawks, he contributed seven points on 3-of-4 shooting, knocking down the only three he attempted and dishing out a pair of assists to boot.

“It’s good to have him back,” said head coach Brett Brown after a 105-87 loss to Atlanta. “We did get a little more out of him than I [expected], especially given that I thought he was going to be in Delaware tonight.”

The Sixers had considered sending Thompson, who at one point had lost 20 pounds as a result of the illness, to the team’s Development League affiliate, the Delaware 87ers, in order to work his way back into game shape in a lower pressure environment. But after impressing Brown and the training staff with his conditioning at practice Monday, he was given the green light to return to game action immediately.

Wroten Unlikely To Travel To Toronto

During the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s loss to the Hawks, Tony Wroten suffered a sprain to his right knee, the same injury that’s caused him to miss seven games this season. After the game, Brett Brown told reporters that the third-year guard is not likely to travel to Toronto with the team for tomorrow’s game, which would leave the Sixers with just point guard Michael Carter-Williams and swingman JaKarr Sampson to assume primary ballhandling duties.

Wroten is averaging 18.1 points (39.5 FG%) and 4.3 assists over his last 10 games.
