Union Wrap Up Preseason Following IMG Classic Win

After winning the IMG Suncoast Pro Classic on Saturday night, Philadelphia Union returned home to Philadelphia Sunday morning after spending the better part of the last four weeks at their Spring Training home in Clearwater, Fla. The team went 3-2-1 while in Florida, highlighted by Saturday’s win over New York Red Bulls in Bradenton.

While at IMG, the Union won games over Costa Rica U-23s (3-0), London United (6-0) and Columbus Crew SC (1-1, 5-3) before defeating Red Bulls (3-1) in the championship. Newly-acquired Fernando Aristeguieta scored four goals in three games to lead the team at IMG. Andrew Wenger also scored four goals during preseason, three of which came during tournament. He scored two goals in the championship game.

Back in Philadelphia, the club will train at the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday and Wednesday due to inclement weather. The club will then open their brand new training ground outside PPL Park on Thursday, in which media are encouraged to attend. Media availability and photo opportunities will take place before practice, which is tentative to change due to weather. Saturday, the club will open its 2015 MLS Regular Season against Colorado Rapids at PPL Park. The game will be broadcast on 6abc
