Union to Open Practice to Fans on Wednesday, Release Preseason Schedule

Philadelphia Union will open up preseason training this week at YSC Sports in Wayne, Pa. ahead of the 2014 MLS season, practicing Monday-Saturday. The team will then head south to Florida Feb. 2 to begin the next phase of preseason.

The team is scheduled to practice from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday-Saturday at YSC Sports in Wayne, Pa. Wednesday’s training session will be open to fans and media during the entire session, beginning at 10 a.m. For media attending any training session, please confirm training location and time with Chris Glidden atcglidden@philadelphiaunion.com, as there may be a change in schedule.

The Philadelphia Sports Writers Association will host the 110^th annual Sports Banquet on Monday, Jan. 27 at the Crowne Plaze in Cherry Hill, where Philadelphia Union’s Chris Albright will be in attendance as an honored guest.

Philadelphia Union will host a meet the team event at Fado Irish Pub specifically for select season ticket holders as a part of the Union’s Loyalty Program. Attended by the Philadelphia Union first team, the event is not open to the general public, but will be accessible for media, who can RSVP with Chris Glidden (cglidden@philadelphiaunion.com) or Aimee Cicero (acicero@philadelphiaunion.com).

Last week, Philadelphia Union drafted four players in the third and fourth rounds of the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. The Union selected University of Redlands defender Richard Marquez (Rd. 3, No. 6), Saint Louis University midfielder Alex Sweetin (Rd. 3, No. 8), University of Akron midfielder Aodhan Quinn (Rd. 3, No. 14) and Wake Forest University midfielder/forward Luca Gimenez (Rd. 4, No. 6).

The Union begin their 2014 MLS campaign on the road at JELD-WEN Field against the Portland Timbers on March 8 (10:30 p.m. ET), with the home opener at PPL Park played March 15 against the New England Revolution (4 p.m. ET), presented by Farmers Insurance.

TEAM INTERVIEW REQUESTS

Player and coach availability will take place at YSC Sports after 12:00 p.m. when the team finishes training on Monday-Saturday. All player interviews can be arranged by phone or in person at PPL Park by contacting Chris Glidden at cglidden@philadelphiaunion.com. Requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
