Union Parts Ways With CEO Sakiewicz

Chester, Pa.  – Philadelphia Union announced today the Club has parted ways with CEO Nick Sakiewicz. Union Chief Revenue Officer Dave Rowan will assume day-to-day business operations in the interim.

“Nick was instrumental in helping bring a team to Philadelphia and building our organization from the ground up, and we thank him for the dedication and perseverance he showed in those efforts along with his passion for the club,” said Union Chairman and Majority Owner Jay Sugarman. “It’s time to move forward now and execute on our plan to bring a winning team to Philadelphia and its fans.”

A native of Reading, Pa., Rowan, 54, has been with the club since October 2010. Prior to joining the Union, Rowan most recently held positions as General Manager, Mid-Atlantic area, for CBS Sports Group from 2004 until September 2010 and was Vice President of Corporate Sales for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1997 until 2004.
