Temple Baseball Plays Last Home Game, Gets AAC Tourney Bid

Report From Temple University

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Temple baseball, which played its last home game this weekend due to the program being cut, has been given the sixth seed in the American Athletic Conference Tournament at Bright House Field in Clearwater, FL, this week.  The Owls will face No. 2 UCF, No. 3 Houston, and No. 7 UConn in pool play that starts on Wednesday and ends Saturday.

Temple’s first opponent will be Houston on Wednesday at 3 p.m.  The Owls will then take on UCF in the night game at 7 p.m. on Thursday.  They conclude pool play Saturday with the morning game at 11 a.m. against UConn.  Friday will be the off day for Temple as each school in the tournament has an off day from Wednesday to Saturday.

The conference tournament is split into two pools with No. 1 Louisville, No. 4 Rutgers, No. 5 USF and No. 8 Memphis forming the other pool.  The winner of the two pools will face each other in the championship game at noon on ESPNU for the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

Temple was swept earlier in the year at UCF, split a series against Houston this weekend, and won two of three games at UConn in mid-April.

Bright House Field is home to the Philadelphia Phillies’ spring training.  Ticket information, schedules and other information can be found on the championship central link above.
