Sox Complete Sweep of Phillies in Boston

Despite a 1-2 record heading into the game, Phillies rookie pitcher Jerad Eickhoff had pitched well enough in his first three outings to give he and his team a conceivable chance to win each time. That wasn’t the case Sunday afternoon in Beantown. Eickhoff lated just four innings while allowing six runs on eight hits and two walks as the Boston Red Sox completed a three-game sweep of the Phillies with a 6-2 win. Boston scored all six of its runs in the first two innings, but Eduardo Rodriguez made sure it was already too late for the offense to muster any pland for a comeback. The Sox’ 22-year-old piled up seven strikeouts while allowing just one earned run on eight hits and one walk over seven innings. Odubel Herrera managed three of those hits and an RBI.
