PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul have agreed to terms with former New Orleans VooDoo and Pittsburgh Power offensive lineman, Daverin Geralds (6’2, 305, Mississippi). Geralds was acquired in a trade with the New Orleans VooDoo for Soul defensive lineman Caleb Bostic.
“With Geralds’ experience he will be a good addition to the team,” says Head Coach Clint Dolezel. “The transition will be a smooth one, as Geralds will be reunited with six former teammates and former coach, Derek Stingley.”
Geralds started in the AFL with the New Orleans VooDoo, appearing in eight games and started in seven of those games as a rookie in 2011. In 2012, he played in nine games and started in six of those games for the VooDoo. In both seasons he recorded one tackle.
In 2013, Geralds started in 17 games for the Pittsburgh Power and recorded four total tackles for the season. Last season, Geralds played in four games for the Power.
Growing up in Baton Rouge, LA, Geralds attended Scotlandville High School and was ranked as the No. 5 strong offensive guard in the nation by Max Emfinger, rated as the No. 27 overall player in Louisiana by SuperPrep and was named to the All-Southeast team by PrepStar. He then went on to play for The Ole Miss Rebels. He started in 26 consecutive games at center for the Rebels during his junior and senior campaigns.
