PHILADELPHIA, PA. – FEBRUARY 19, 2015 – The Philadelphia 76ers announced today that the team has acquired Oklahoma City’s protected 2015 first round pick via Denver, the Los Angeles Lakers’ protected 2015 first round pick via Phoenix, a 2015 second round pick via Houston, point guard Isaiah Canaan, center JaVale McGee and the rights to Chukwudiebere Maduabum as part of the following trades:
– The Sixers acquired the Los Angeles Lakers’ protected 2015 first round pick held by Phoenix as part of a multi-team trade that sent Michael Carter-Williams to the Milwaukee Bucks.
“Michael and K.J. each brought their enormous talents with them to the Sixers. Once here, they both flourished within our player development program, which is a testament to their own work ethic and the dedication of our coaching staff.
“As we move forward, it is important that we continue to be aggressive in the ways in which we build our roster, and sometimes that includes making difficult decisions in order to further our goal of building something special for Philadelphia.”
– The Sixers acquired Canaan and the lesser of Minnesota’s or Denver’s 2015 second round picks from the Houston Rockets in exchange for K.J. McDaniels.
Canaan was originally the 34th overall pick by Houston in the 2013 NBA Draft and has appeared in 47 games for the Rockets over the past two seasons. In nine games as a starter this season, Canaan averaged 13 points and nearly three 3-pointers on 43% shooting from beyond the arc. He scored 20-plus points twice this season after not scoring above 15 as a rookie in 2013-14.

Last season, Canaan was assigned several times to the Rockets’ NBA Development League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. In 18 games with the Vipers, Canaan averaged 22 points, eight assists and four rebounds and was named a D-League All-Star.
– The Sixers acquired McGee and a 2015 first round pick via Oklahoma City from Denver, along with the rights to Chukwudiebere Maduabum, in exchange for the rights to Cenk Akyol.
McGee is in his seventh season. In 376 career games with 158 starts, he is averaging nine points, over five and half rebounds and nearly two blocks per game while shooting 54% from the floor.
