Schenn’s Hat Trick Gives Flyers Enough Cushion in 5-3 Win Over Flames

Brayden Schenn scored an equalizing goal around the midway point of the first period on Monday night and took off from there – scoring two goals in the second for his first NHL hat trick during the Philadelphia Flyers’ 5-3 win over the visiting Calgary Flames. A 4-1 lead built by Philly (29-22-11) helped ward off a third-period push by Calgary (26-32-4). Wayne Simmonds added two goals and Claude Giroux notched four assists. Michal Neuvirth made 29 saves on 32 shots. With the win, the Flyers sit just three points behind Pittsburgh for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.
