Phillies Use Long Ball, Literally, to beat the Padres

The Philadelphia Phillies began their road trip in interesting fashion Friday night in San Diego by hitting four solo home runs while earning a 4-3 win over the host Padres. Domonic Brown’s fourth-inning shot, his fourth of the season, got the Phillies on the board during a game they had been trailing 3-0 at that point. Ryan Howard’s sixth-inning homer, No. 19 for him, got them one run closer. Cody Asche hit his sixth home run of the year in the seventh to tie the game and Cameron Rupp hit his third in the 12th inning off reliever Dan Quackenbush (fabulous name) before ken Giles came on in the bottom of the inning to notch his fourth save. Hector Neris earned the win in relief for the Phillies, who got another strong start from Aaron Nola – six innings, three earned runs, six strikeouts, two walks and six hits allowed.
