Phillies Rally Falls Short in 7-5 loss to Braves

Ryan Howard and Ben Revere almost did enough between the two of them offensively to lift the Phillies over host Atlanta Wednesday night to end their road trip. Almost. The two combined for seven hits, three runs and two RBI, but it wasn’t enough to erase a 6-1 lead the Braves built through five innings during an eventual 7-5 loss for the Phils, which dropped their record to 10-19. Howard hit his fifth homer of the season, a solo shot to center, to open a three-run sixth inning for the Phillies capped by Revere’s two-out RBI double to get the Phillies to within two at 6-4, but the Braves tacked on another run in their half of the inning. The Phillies added another in the ninth. Jerome Williams struggled in 4.1 innings and took the loss, allowing six earned runs. Odubel Herrera added two hits and a run scored. The Phillies return home to face the Mets on Friday. For more on this article, click here.
