Phillies Extend Win Streak With Win Over Arizona

The Phillies maximized a three-run fifth inning en route to a 7-5 win over the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks to push their winning streak to four games. Leading by just one run at the time after once holding a 4-0 edge, the Phils got a leadoff single from Maikel Franco and three doubles in the inning (Chase Utley, Carlos Ruiz, Andres Blanco) to take a lead they wouldn’t surrender on a night that included a lengthy rain delay. Ruiz and Blanco connected on back-to-back, one-out RBI doubles to footnote the inning. Arizona starter Archie Bradley was chased after just 2.1 innings of work in which he allowedfive runs (four earned). Jerome Williams got the win for the Phillies, going five innings while scattering seven hits and three runs (two earned) with zero walks and four strikeouts. Jeff Francoeur’s solo home run in the second gave the Phillies a 1-0 lead.
