Flyers Recall F Nick Cousins From Phantoms

Report From Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have recalled forward Nick Cousins from their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

This is his first recall to the NHL, and should he enter the line-up for Sunday’s Flyers-Senators game in Ottawa, will make his NHL debut. He will wear jersey No. 52.

Cousins earns the recall after posting a goal and an assist in the Phantoms 4-2 victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday. The 21-year-old leads the Flyers affiliate in Allentown in goals (21), as well as 55 points, which also ranks fifth among all players in the American Hockey League.

In his second full season with the Phantoms, Cousins has recorded new career highs in goals (21), assists (34) and points (55). He has also recorded two hat tricks, most recently as part of a four-point night (3g-1a) in which he scored his third goal on a penalty shot to give the Phantoms a 4-3 win over Toronto on Mar. 11. He has also posted 17 multi-point games this season.

Drafted by the Flyers in the third round (68th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Cousins appeared in two preseason games for the Flyers this year, recording two assists.
