Flyers Rebound With 4-1 Win Over Islanders

The Philadelphia Flyers (35-24-12) bounced back from a dreary weekend in a big way Monday night, defeating the host New York Islanders (38-24-9), 4-1. The win puts Philly just one point back of Detroit for the second wild card spot in the East and a mere there points behind the Isles, who’ve now lost four straight. Brandon Manning’s first NHL goal at 13:01 of the second period gave Philly a 2-1 lead and proved to be the game-winner. Nick Cousins had given the Flyers a 1-0 goal at 2:24 of the second with his sixth goal of the season. Sam Gagner (eight) and Claude Giroux (19, empty net) also scored for the Flyers, with both tallies coming in the third. Steve Mason stopped 23 of 24 shots in net to earn the win. For more on this game, click here.
