Flyers Inch Toward Playoff Spot With 4-3 Win Over Red Wings

The Philadelphia Flyers (33-23-12) continued their late-season push toward a wild card spot in the Eastern Conference with a 4-3 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings (34-25-11) on Tuesday. The Flyers now sit just one point out of the second slot behind Detroit. Michael Raffl scored twice for Philly, which also got goals from Wayne Simmonds and Shayne Gostisbehere. The Ghost’s goal (his 16th of the season) at 18:54 of the second period gave the Flyers a 4-2 edge after Detroit had closed what had been an early 2-0 deficit into two one-goal advantages. Goaltender Steve Mason had 34 saves on 37 shots, including an impressive third period to preserve a lead for Philly throughout regulation. For more on this game, click here.
