Flyers Add Swedish Defenseman Christian Marti

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed 6-3, 210 lb defenseman Christian Marti to an entry-level contract, according to general manager Ron Hextall.

Marti, 22 (3/29/1993), is a native of Switzerland, where he has played three of the last four seasons in the Swiss National League.

For the past two years, he has skated for Genève-Servette HC, where he has played with several former NHL players including Matt D’Agostini, Paul Ranger and Taylor Pyatt. Over those two seasons, he has recorded five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 82 games, along with a plus-14 rating.

Marti spent the 2012-13 season with Blainville-Boisbriand in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he recorded 14 points (5G, 9A) in 46 games and registered a plus-25 rating. He spent that season playing with center Danick Martel, who signed an entry-level contract with the Flyers on March 10.
