Phillies second baseman Chase Utley overwhelmed an already emotional Phillies fan on an episode of “Ellen” that aired Monday. Utley made a surprise visit during a segment with Julie Kramer, 23, who recently underwent surgery to remove a mass following a diagnosis of stage 4 synovial sarcoma, a rare cancer that affects soft tissue. Kramer had recently run in a Phillies 5K charity event before experiencing symptoms that led her to the hospital.
A Phillies and Utley fan, she received a gift bag from Utley as well as an open invitation to go to the ballpark this season.
