Brian Dawkins Named Captain for Philadelphia Soul

Report From Philadelphia Soul

The Soul have announced that Philadelphia Eagles legend Brian Dawkins will be the coin toss captain for ArenaBowl XXX this Saturday, Aug. 26 at the Wells Fargo Center.  Kickoff for the game is set for 7 p.m.  The coin toss will occur shortly before kickoff.  The game will be broadcast live on 6abc, Twitter and 97.5FM The Fanatic.

Brian Dawkins was selected in the second round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played 13 seasons and ultimately had his number 20 jersey retired by the team.  He played an additional three seasons for the Denver Broncos.  Arguably Philadelphia’s most beloved sports figure, “Weapon X” racked up nine Pro Bowl appearances, four first team and two second team All-Pro team selections. He made the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000’s and the Philadelphia Eagles 75th Anniversary team.

Dawkins retired from the NFL in 2012 and has since returned to the Philadelphia Eagles Football Operations staff as an executive for the team and assists with player personnel.

“B-Dawk personifies tough, smart, aggressive football, while being a gentleman off the field, said Soul owner Ron Jaworski.  I couldn’t think of anybody else that captures the essence of our Soul football team more. We are honored to have him support the Soul and be our coin toss captain for the biggest game in our team’s history where we have a chance to win a championship in front of our home crowd.  The Wells Fargo Center is going to be electric Saturday night!”
