Braves Go Deep Into Bullpen to Turn Away Phillies

Despite starting pitcher Williams Perez allowing just one earned run over 5.2 innings while scattering six hits, the Atlanta Braves opted to go with a bullpen committee to keep the Philadelphia Phillies at bay Friday night. It worked, as the Phils were held without a run from the third inning on in an eventual 2-1 defeat at Turner Field. Cameron Rupp knocked in the only run for Philly on the evening with his ninth home run of the season in the second inning, which tied the game at 1-1 at that point. Starter Adam Morgan was the tough-luck loser, falling to 5-7 on the season after surrendering just two earned runs over six innings while striking out three and walking none.
