Vick’s Former GF Opens Up About Tell-All Book

We will use this space to examine off-the-field incidents and interesting anecdotes involving the Philadelphia athletes we admire, like, dislike, etc. From the police blotter to charity events to romantic relationships, this is our attempt to humanize the athletes we cover.

Mike Vick’s former girlfriend and confidante, Bella Escritor, is writing a tell-all book about her 10-year relationship with the Eagles quarterback.

The book — titled “Quarterback Keeper” — is currently being shopped around on Kickstarter.com. She has six backers and $175 with 18 days to go. The goal is $22,000 to get the book published.

In it, Bella promises to reveal “secrets that will shock the world.” Recently, she posted an excerpt, one that details a trip to Vick’s hometown of Newport News, right when the dog fighting scandal was hitting its crescendo. She paints a picture of a man so distraught that he couldn’t even bring himself to watch SportsCenter. At one point, Vick turns to her and his friend CJ and says, “You tried to warn me fam.” Vick knew he was going to prison at this point.

Here’s a taste, via Kickstarter:

“It was at that point that I had to hold back the tears and quiet my own heartbeat. I was hurt, shocked, and pissed off at this man. I was under the impression that the charges he faced were all lies. I believed him when he told me he was innocent. I defended him against everyone who said such horrible things about him. And now I find out that he has been lying to me this entire time. For so long, I believed his story because he had no reason to lie to me. I was on his side and would have supported him through anything, no matter what.”

Bella told us the book is 95-percent finished and she has total control of everything, including love letters, photos, memoirs, personal mementos, etc. There will be no legal ramifications, either. She also claims that Vick is aware of the book and supportive.

In an email exchange, she repeatedly told us that this isn’t a negative portrayal — although she did admit that the “truth may bring up some negative points but that’s just how I write (honestly and from the heart).”

Vick wasn’t married when the two were together. They met back in 2002 and went their separate ways in 2011. Vick got hitched in 2012.

Many sports blogs have already positioned this book as an expose by a jilted lover. That’s not the case, according to the author. She insists it’s not a sexual tell-all. She refuses to be labeled as a groupie or mistress. Bella says she was a close friend, a best friend at one point, and she just wants the public to know the truth about Mike Vick — as a person, not just as an athlete.

Here’s what Bella told us in an email: “There is a lot more to this story than the uniformed negativity coming from certain blog sites and radio personalities. I expected the hate. That will not stop me from telling my story of my decade with Mike.”

We wish Bella the best in her endeavor. After all, writing a book isn’t easy. If her story is true and accurate, it could be a bestseller. If not, well, good luck. Either way, we’re sure the tabloids will have fun with it.
