Flyers Sign D Manning; Maybe Winger Cleary?

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed restricted free agent defenseman Brandon Manning to a one-year contract, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

Manning, 23 (6/4/1990), appeared in six games for the Flyers last season, recording two assists. He has appeared in a total of 10 games for the club over the last two seasons.

Manning also played 65 games for the Flyers’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, last season. He posted six goals and 15 assists for 21 points along with 135 PIM, and represented the team at the 2013 AHL All-Star Classic. In 111 games with the Phantoms over the past two seasons, Manning has recorded 12 goals and 28 assists for 40 points, along with 216 PIM.

Manning originally signed with the Flyers as a free agent on November 23, 2010, and joined the organization prior to the 2011-12 season following the completion of his junior career with the Chilliwack Bruins of the Western Hockey League.
