Flyers get Closer to Wild Card With 4-2 win Over Canadians

Wayne Simmonds scored two go-ahead goals to help lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-2 win in their return from the All Star break on Tuesday night over the visiting Montreal Canadians. With the win, Philly moved to within five points of a wild card berth in the Eastern Conference. Simmonds netted the game’s first goal at 6:11 of the opening period and then broke a 2-2 tie with his 16th goal of the season at 11:56 of the third. Brayden Schenn and Matt Read (empty net) also scored for the Flyers, who got a big night out of goalie Steve Mason (32 saves on 34 shots) as well.
