Union Signs Winger Fabrice ‘Fafa’ Picault

Report From Philadelphia Union

CHESTER, Pa. – Philadelphia Union have announced that they have signed winger Fabrice “Fafà” Picault as a Discovery Signing with a one year deal, with club options for two additional years. Picault was born in New York, and spent his youth career with Serie A side Cagliari. Prior to joining the Union, Picault was with St. Pauli of the German Second Division where he appeared in more matches than any league in his career. Picault has also earned a cap for the United States Men’s National Team.

“We are excited to bring Fafa to our club for the 2017 season. He provides depth for us and brings a lot of excitement with his speed and ability to move up and down the pitch.” Sporting Director Earnie Stewart said.

The experienced winger started his path at the age of 16 where Picault joined Cagliari’ reserve team and spent six seasons with the Serie A side. Picault would go on to play in the NASL and appeared for two NASL clubs in his career, combining for 42 appearances with the Tampa Bay Rowdies and Fort Lauderdale Strikers, while recording 12 goals.

For St. Pauli, Picault recorded four goals and three assists in his 22 appearances in the Bundesliga 2. Picault made his international debut in May of 2016 in a friendly against Puerto Rico.
