Soul Acquires WR White From LA

Report From Philadelphia Soul

The Philadelphia Soul have acquired wide receiver Markee White (6’7, 215, Texas State) in a trade with the Los Angeles KISS for the No. 10 Claim Order selection.  White will bring impressive height and a championship pedigree to the Soul offense.

“(Markee) White is a very talented athlete,” said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel.  “We are always looking to improve ourselves and when the opportunity presented itself, we jumped on it.  We are excited to get him to Philadelphia and add him to our offense.”

So far this season, White has recorded 53 receptions for 523 yards and five touchdowns, along with 10 total tackles on the defensive side of the ball.  In 2013, he tallied 104 receptions for 1,124 yards and 19 touchdowns with Jacksonville.  In 2012, White had 30 catches for a total of 425 yards and eight touchdowns during the regular season with the Arizona Rattlers. In addition, White was also a major factor in the Rattlers’ playoff run to the ArenaBowl XXV title.  In the 2012 National Conference Championship game against the Utah Blaze, White had six catches for 106 yards and three touchdowns.

The fifth-year AFL veteran spent his first two seasons with the Spokane Shock.  White had 29 receptions for 303 yards and nine touchdowns in 2011.  During his Rookie Season in 2010, he collected 66 catches for 925 yards and 18 touchdowns.

In his collegiate career, White played for Texas State University.  As a senior in 2005, White was the team leader with 56 catches for 786 yards and five touchdowns. He also earned First Team All-Southland Conference recognition.  White spent time in the Canadian Football League with the Calgary Stampede during the early part of the 2012 season.  He signed as an undrafted free agent with the St. Louis Rams in 2007 but did not make the 53-man roster.

The Philadelphia Soul (4-4) will face the Tampa Bay Storm (3-5) this Saturday, May 17 at 6 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Center.  The game can also be seen on ESPN3.
