Harang Proves to be Human in Phillies Loss to Cardinals

Aaron Harang was due for a letdown, and it occurred in the fifth inning of the Phillies loss Wednesday night in St. Louis. With the Phillies nursing a 2-1 lead that would have been a larger advantage had base running woes not impacted the Phillies’ half of that frame, Harang surrendered four hits and a walk that contributed to four runs that the Phillies offense had no answer for down the stretch. Ryan Howard’s home run in the fourth tied the game at 1-1 and Odubel Herrera picked up an RBI single in the fifth to give the Phils the temporary edge, but recorded outs at third base and at home contributed to offensive letdowns that the team didn’t recover from.
