Harang, Francoeur Lead Phillies to 5-2 Win Over Braves

Aaron Harang continued his mostly impressive work thus far as a Philadelphia Phillie and Jeff Francoeur had a coming-out party of sorts Monday night as the Phillies topped the host Atlanta Braves 5-2. For both Harang and Francoeur it was a statement game against their former club, a statement they essentially made in the first inning. Francoeur’s two-out single in the top of the first gave the Harang an early cushion that he would not waste. After allowing a leadoff single to Nick Markakis in his half of the frame, Harang got Andrelton Simmons to ground into a double play and didn’t look back from there. He’d go five innings while allowing consecutive base runners on one occassion, when in the second inning Alberto Callaspo slapped a two-out single and Jace Peterson followed with a walk. Cameron Maybin struck out swining to end the inning. Harang went six innings to earn his third win as a Phillie. Francoeur meanwhile would go four-for-five with a run and two RBI, the other coming on a two-out triple in the ninth to score Darin Ruf, who went three-for-five on the day with two runs. Ben Revere went two-for-five and Carlos Ruiz went two-for-four with a pair of RBI. For more on this game, click here.
