Foles Named Offensive MVP at Pro Bowl

In the first-ever unconferenced Pro Bowl, the all-star team assembled by Jerry Rice beat Deion Sanders, 22-21. Four Eagles were a part of the action – quarterback Nick Foles and wide receiver DeSean Jackson suited up for Team Sanders and guard Evan Mathis and running back LeSean McCoy. QB Nick Foles: Foles was named the Offensive MVP of the Pro Bowl after completing 7-of-10 pass attempts for 89 yards with a touchdown for a 130.8 passer rating. He is the third Eagle to win MVP honors at the Pro Bowl joining defensive end Reggie White (1987) and quarterback Randall Cunningham (1989).

Foles led Team Sanders on a 57-yard touchdown drive in five plays which culminated with a 12-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jordan Cameron in the back, right corner of the end zone to give his team a 21-14 lead with 4:41 left. Foles also tossed a beautiful 39-yard pass to wide receiver Antonio Brown along the right sideline on the scoring drive. Foles did all of this even though his first snap was  the last play of the third quarter.

WR DeSean Jackson: Jackson finished the game with three catches for 40 yards as he opened the game’s scoring with a highlight-reel 36-yard touchdown off a flea-flicker from quarterback Andrew Luck where he had to fend off cornerbacks Joe Haden and Alterraun Verner in the end zone. It was Jackson’s third-career Pro Bowl touchdown.

G Evan Mathis: Entered the game a left guard in the first quarter. Mathis helped his teammate running back LeSean McCoy bounce outside to the left side for a gain of 8 in the second quarter. He blocked defensive tackle Dontari Poe on quarterback Drew Brees’ 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jimmy Graham. Mathis played in all four quarters and was on the line for fullback Mike Tolbert’s game-winning two-point conversion.

RB LeSean McCoy: The league’s leading rusher started for Team Rice and gained 32 yards from scrimmage before leaving the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury. He gained 7 yards on his first carry up the middle which came on the first offensive play following Jackson’s touchdown. In the second quarter, McCoy caught his first pass – a checkdown from Brees – and gained 18 yards before going out of bounds where he drilled a cameraman. As previously written, McCoy used his amazing cutting ability to bounce outside for a gain of 8 yards. McCoy got the first carry in the second half of the game. He ran right before going back all the way to the left side only to fumble when tackled by linebacker Luke Kuechly.
