Foles Concussed, Status Questionable

By Dan Klausner, Eagles.com

A day after Sunday’s disappointing 17-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, things are not about to get any easier for the Eagles.

Nick Foles, who was largely ineffective on Sunday, going 11-of-29 for 80 yards, left the game to be evaluated for a head injury. Head coach Chip Kelly confirmed on Monday that Foles sustained a concussion. Foles must now go through the NFL’s post-concussion protocol, including being cleared by an independent neurologist, before he can return to action. There is no word on the severity of the concussion, though Foles told Kelly he “feels good.”

Kelly also revealed that Foles’ groin injury, which he suffered prior to the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was fully healed and a non-factor against the Cowboys. He had no issues throughout the week and was not listed on the injury report at all.
As for Michael Vick, he is still in the process of rehabbing from his hamstring injury. He was in for treatment Monday morning, but there is no other update on his status. Kelly was adamant that the team will not put Vick at risk nor clear him to play if he is not totally healthy and cannot be productive. As he has since suffering the injury, Vick will inform Kelly of his status throughout the week.

Foles has a concussion and his status, playing-wise and health-wise, moving forward is in question.

So who will take the first-team reps come practice on Tuesday?

“I don’t know until we get here and run around a little bit tomorrow morning,,” Kelly said. “Tomorrow is a lifting day so they’ll lift before we get out onto the field. Mike was in for treatment and Nick was here, so we’ll make a determination when we get to tomorrow.

“If those guys can’t go, obviously we have to bring in another quarterback.”
